LX SwissBike

Experienced riders will enjoy this  24 speed mountain bike whether dealing with mountain terrain or city pot holes, the SwissBike LX is prepared for action. HOW TO FOLD

Follow these simple steps

1 Remove the front wheel 

Flip up the CLIQ XR quick

release on the wheel and

position your fingers in a

syringe grip. Squeeze with

thumb to release.

2 Unlock the Frame Quick

Release Flip the on

the frame, turn 6 times anti

clockwise. Press CLIQ QR

lever down

3 Fold the bike

When transporting your folded bike

For train, bus, tram, car or boat: Use a SwissBike softcase or a softcase which allows you to separate the front wheel from the folded frame in the bag. This protects components from rubbing together.

For commercial air flights: Use a hard suitcase or custom bike hard case with padding and pockets to separate the front wheel from the folded frame in the bag. This prevents damage in transit from baggage handling.

DX Commuter by Montague

Military service

In 1997, Montague won a two-year grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), who recognised the importance of the folding technology, to work with the United States Marines in developing the Tactical Electric No Signature (TENS) Mountain bike. For this project Montague developed a new folding design, enabling the bike to fold faster for Paratrooper exit from military aircraft while also increasing its load bearing capacity. This gave rise to the Paratrooper®, Montague’s non-electric Military Mountain Bike.

Developed in partnership with the US Marines, Montague’s F.I.T.™(Folding Integrated Technology) system allows a full-size bike to fold and fit through the cargo door of a military aircraft with a paratrooper. When the soldier would hit the ground, he or she would have a tactical mountain bike to use as transportation, thereby bridging the gap between walking and deploying heavy military vehicles. This would not only aid in transportation but it would help to facilitate battlefield reporting as well. The Paratrooper® is a full-size mountain bike that can traverse terrain silently at high speeds with no thermal or acoustic radar signature - key components when trying to avoid the enemy. The Paratrooper® offers up to 500 pounds of load hauling capability and it does not need gasoline. It has enhanced off-body load bearing capabilities, a high level of maneuverability, and can compact to a portable size in less than 30 seconds. The bikes are used in conjunction with LAV’s (Light Armored Vehicles) and HMMWV’s as back up transportation and they also help to facilitate battlefield reporting.
